With close to 170 champions available in the game, League of Legends boasts an enormous roster of playable characters. But beyond the core mechanics of the game, there are close to 2000 purchasable skins.

These cosmetic enhancements transform the old familiar champions, offering players a chance to express their personal style and interests. In this deep dive, we'll explore the crème de la crème of the endless skin catalog, highlighting the best League of Legends skins in 2024.

Before we continue, we have to note that many others deserve a spot on this list, and the selected ones are also not placed in any particular order. Here are 20 skins that truly stand out from the crowd.

Which are the 20 Best League of Legends Skins?

Forecast Janna

forecast janna.jpg

Let's kickstart this list with a Forecast Janna skin that is part of a special theme called The Grind. In this alternate future, each champion has a real-world job. As the name suggests, Janna is a meteorologist. What better transformation for an ancient wind spirit?

Priced at 1820 RP, this legendary skin features a plethora of unique voiceovers and animations that make it one of the most entertaining skins to play with. Although this skin was released more than a decade ago, it is still one of Riot's best in 2024.

Prestige Faerie Court Katarina

prestige faerie court katarina.jpg

Faerie Court is one of the most stunning skin lines to ever grace the Summoner's Rift but Katarina's version stands out. And while the regular Faerie Court Katarina is absolutely stunning for 1350 RP, you should really try to get your hands on the Prestige one.

Both versions come with identical new animations, sound, and visual effects but the Prestige one takes the enhancements to new heights. Unfortunately, the only way to obtain it is by collecting Mythic Essense or through looting chests.

Spirit Guard Udyr

spirit guardian udyr.jpg

Spirit Guard Udyr was released over a decade ago as the second ultimate skin in League of Legends. You may think that the high price of 3250 RP would not be worth it in 2024 but we have to mention that the skin was reworked twice in recent years.

With several redesigned forms, it remains one of the best League of Legends skins. Once you reach a certain stage of the game by updating different abilities, you unlock one of the ultimate forms. This skin is a must-have for any collector.

Dark Cosmic Jhin

dark cosmic jhin.jpg

Also priced at 1820 RP, Dark Cosmic Jhin is the most elite version of the champion to date. Although his other skins like Blood Moon and High Noon are beautiful, this is the one to get for the ultimate experience.

In this alternate timeline, Jhin has been consumed by the Dark Star and has a new purpose for his existence. The skin transforms him into a dark interstellar entity, through a complete makeover with new animations, voiceovers, and effects.

Elementalist Lux

elementist lux.jpg

With its stunning animations and complex mechanics, Elementalist Lux has become a favorite among both casual and competitive players. Often considered the best skin in the entire game, this transformative skin allows her to shift between ten different elemental forms, each with unique visuals and abilities.

Priced at 3250 RP, Elementalist Lux is part of the elite group of Ultimate skins and features all possible rework perks - new voiceovers, animations, recall, SFX, and VFX.

The only downside compared to other ultimate skins is not being able to switch between the forms freely. Instead, you have to collect energy through playing and you can use up to three of her alternative looks per match. But this also means that you can experiment and get a new combination every time.

Dunkmaster Darius

dunkmaster darius.jpg

A skin that stood the test of time, Dunkmaster Darius remains one of the best League of Legends skins ten years after its original release. Perhaps because it represents an alternative universe that has nothing to do with the lore.

In this universe, Darius is a rising basketball star with the dream of becoming the best dunker in the world. Curiously, Riot decided to create this skin thanks to a fan who suggested that his ultimate could be replicated as a slam dunk.

Dunkmaster Darius costs 1820 RP to this day and features all cosmetics and makeovers of the Legendary skin line. Last but not least, you can also get one of six Chromas.

Storm Dragon Aurelion Sol

storm dragon aurelion sol.jpg

This skin feels like a steal for the 1350 RP you would have to pay for it. Storm Dragon Aurelion Sol was released in 2020 and to this day features some of the best animations that Riot has ever created.

The skin completely changes Aurelion Sol's appearance, giving him a dragon-like form with striking storm-themed effects. His abilities are visually enhanced with lightning and storm-related particles and his recall animation is absolutely thrilling.

And finally, the chromas. Sometimes, these additional variants lack glamour but in this case, the 290 RP is absolutely worth spending.

Lunar Guardian Malphite

lunar guardian malphite.jpg

Malphite was one of the first champions in League of Legends and logically has received a huge number of skins through the years. It is hard to imagine a theme that wouldn't fit this champion as there are too many incredible skins to choose from.

Lunar Guardian Malphite is the latest addition to his collection. It is a skin that transforms him into a demi-god who was betrayed by his fellow guardians. And like most Malphite skins, there is a huge number of Chromas to choose from. But first, you would have to spend 1350 RP to obtain the original skin.

Dawnbringer Soraka

dawnbringer soraka.jpg

Released in 2019, Dawnbringer Soraka demonstrates the rapid advancement in skin development in the years since the release of the game. Most newer skins obviously tend to be much better than those released a decade ago but Dawnbringer is exceptionally stunning.

Available in the store for the whopping 1820 RP, this skin transforms Soraka to the extent that she is almost unrecognizable. But Riot did not miss the opportunity to reference the memes and added a joke animation that summons a banana.

Gun Goddess Miss Fortune

gun goddess miss fortune.jpg

While Gun Goddess Miss Fortune lacks some of the special features of the ultimate line, it remains one of the best League of Legends skins. The coolest feature of this skin is the four exosuits that you can switch between whenever you recall.

The one downside compared to some other ultimate skins is the fact that Miss Fortune's appearance doesn't evolve as the game progresses. But depending on the point of view, having the option to change the entire appearance whenever you want may be better.

Unlike all other skins from this tier, Gun Goddess Miss Fortune costs 2775 RP and this is because her overall redesign features are not as prominent. Some would say this is a skin with Legendary quality but Ultimate features.

Dawnbringer Renekton

Dawnbringer Renekton.jpg

Renekton has been around for a while and has received a fair number of cool skins throughout the years. Being a crocodile with a massive blade is already cool enough but skins like Dawnbringer Renekton make this champion even more epic.

Priced at 1350 RP, this skin highlights the chaos that surrounds Renekton and gives him both a more royal and more aggressive look. Like all skins from this tier, you will get new animations for the abilities and the recall, as well as a new set of sound effects.

And if the original is not flashy enough, there are nine chromas to choose from for the small price of 290 RP.

Star Guardian Jinx

star guardian jinx.jpg

As one of the most popular champions in the game and Riot's favorite champion for marketing campaigns, Jinx continues to get new incredible skins almost every year. Nonetheless, her Legendary skin from 2016 continues to be relevant to this day.

Star Guardian Jinx has a complex lore and is part of a parallel universe that references the Japanese anime culture. Valued at 1820 RP, the skin has an entirely fresh look and unique animations, visuals, and voiceovers.

Star Nemesis Morgana

star nemesis morgana.jpg

An equally stunning skin, Star Nemesis Morgana exists in the same universe as Star Guardian Jinx. However, she stands on the other side of the spectrum as one of the villains.

Blessed with some of the most detailed animations, it is shocking how this skin costs only 1350 RP. This is a skin that will stand the test of time and be as relevant as it is today in a decade.

Orbeanna

orbeanna.jpg

Few skin lines focus on creativity and entertainment as much as the Bees! theme. It took a while for Riot to release a new one with this theme and they even picked one of the champions with the gloomiest personalities. And they nailed it.

Orbeanna was released in 2022 and currently costs 1350 RP in the shop. It is a vibrant and hilarious skin and includes new effects and animations. There are several Chromas too but this is one of the cases where adding a new color destroys the original idea behind the skin.

God Fist Lee Sin

god fist lee sin.jpg

Lee Sin has one of the simplest designs out of all champions in the game but that doesn't mean he hasn't got some of the best League of Legends skins. Let's take his God Fist version as an example.

As the name suggests, the new design gives him a more divine appearance, inspired by characters from Marvel, Avatar, and Asura's Wrath. Priced at 1820 RP, this is the only version of Lee Sin that is not blind.

God-King Garen

god king garen.jpg

Based on an alternative timeline and Asian RPGs, the God-King theme has one of the coolest storylines with endless potential. There are only two skins from this line - God-King Garen and God-King Darius, two wielders of ancient power and might.

However, God-King Garen is the flashier of the two skins because of his divine origin and we consider it the better one of the two. Valued at 1820 RP, it features a completely new voiceover and a full set of animations and effects.

All Out K/DA Seraphine

kda seraphine.jpg

All Out K/DA Seraphine will take you on a journey as you will have to complete missions to unlock the different forms of the skin. This is a unique mechanic that is exclusive to this skin. Riot definitely made it their mission to make this one of the best League of Legends skins and succeeded.

For the high price of 3250RP, you will unlock the first form known as Seraphine Indie. As you complete the champion-specific missions by playing the game, you will end up unlocking Seraphine Rising Star and the final K/DA All Out Seraphine Superstar.

The skin has fewer forms than most other ultimate skins but it is far more interactive. Once you complete the missions, you will be able to toggle between the three versions and choose which one to use in your game.

DJ Sona

dj sona.jpg

The release of DJ Sona nearly a decade ago marked a revolution in skin designs as it was groundbreaking. As the third ultimate skin, it presented a complete rework of an already unique champion.

DJ Sona is a relevant purchase to this day as it remains the skin with the widest variety of sound effects in the game. Combined with three vibrant forms you can choose from and the complete set of theme-specific features, it is worth the 3250 RP price tag.

Spirit Blossom Kindred

spirit blossom kindred.jpg

The Spirit Blossom theme stands as one of the fan favorites among players and the Kindred skin truly stands out as one of the best League of Legends skins. As a champion with already attractive animations, this skin makes her even more vibrant and exciting.

As a 1350 RP skin, you shouldn't expect the customization levels of the higher tiers, but Spirit Blossom Kindred is one of the most visually appealing skins you could get for this low price.

Truth Dragon Yasuo

truth dragon yasuo.jpg

We couldn't help but end our rankings with a skin of one of the characters whose haters probably outnumber the fans. If you are a Yasuo player, you can at least reach the 10 death power spike with style with this skin.

Truth Dragon Yasuo is not the most attractive skin in terms of colors. It isn't flashy and vibrant but more elegant. The real excitement lies in the new set of animations that erupt while using abilities. It is a Legendary skin worth 1820 RP, so there are new voiceovers and effects too.

Conclusion

All of these skins stand out for their cosmetic improvements and comprehensive designs. While some have a guaranteed spot on any list of the best League of Legends skins, there are a few that can be replaced with others.

With thousands of past releases and new ones getting dropped each month, this list will never stop changing. Ultimately, the best skins are the ones that bring you the most joy and add excitement to your experience.
